Sources have disclosed that Peter Obi is on the verge of exiting the coalition, as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar intensifies efforts to secure the ADC presidential ticket—potentially ahead of both Obi and former Minister Rotimi Amaechi.
While Obi appears increasingly sidelined, Amaechi may still be considered for the vice-presidential slot, depending on how events unfold.
“Effectively, Peter Obi has distanced himself from the ADC and the coalition,” an insider revealed.
“His recent moves suggest he has tried various strategies to position himself as the frontrunner, but Atiku seems poised to play his final card. He is now mobilizing key political figures within the party to back his presidential bid.”
The source added, “To avoid a repeat of the fallout with Governor Wike in 2023, Atiku is likely to settle for Amaechi as his running mate. Some party insiders have already leaked this arrangement, indicating plans are underway to present a united front ahead of the 2027 elections.”
