Buhari’s supporter gifts N1m to grave diggers in heartfelt tribute

Alhaji Sirajo Yazid-Abukur, a devoted supporter of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, has pledged N1 million to the workers who dug the grave for Buhari’s burial at his Daura residence.
Yazid-Abukur, the Managing Director of the Katsina State Roads Maintenance Agency (KASSROMA), announced the gesture in Katsina on Thursday, following a viral video showcasing the laborers’ efforts.
“I have decided to reward the grave diggers for their work,” Yazid-Abukur stated.
“The team leader, Malam Muhammad Ali, will receive N500,000, while the other two members will each get N250,000.
“This money can serve as capital for them to start businesses and support their families.”
Yazid-Abukur has reached out to the laborers to facilitate the disbursement.
He also praised Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda for his compassion and involvement throughout Buhari’s burial process.
“Governor Radda’s physical participation in the burial reflects his loyalty, humility, and exemplary leadership,” he said.
Expressing his prayers for the late president, Yazid-Abukur added, “May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him eternal rest in Jannatul Firdaus.”
It would be recalled that the former President Buhari passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, in a London hospital after a prolonged illness.
His remains were returned to Nigeria on Tuesday, July 15, accompanied by Vice-President Kashim Shettima, senior government officials, and Buhari’s immediate family.
Upon arrival at Umaru Musa Yar’adua International Airport in Katsina, President Bola Tinubu received the body. The late president was laid to rest in his Daura residence, with Tinubu and other dignitaries in attendance.
