Award‑winning filmmaker Kemi Adetiba has revealed she might be facing a third surgery for fibroids, years after undergoing two previous procedures for the condition.

The King of Boys director disclosed this while reacting to a post by actress Ini Dima‑Okojie, who has been open about her own battle with fibroids.

Ini had shared an update on her journey via Instagram, writing:

“We NEED a cure for fibroids 😭 In the meantime, I hope every woman dealing with it is hanging in there 🥹 Just know that you are not alone 🤎.”

Responding in the comments, Kemi wrote:

“I’ve had surgery twice for this already, and it now seems I might need a third. Sigh.”

This is not the first time Kemi has spoken about her struggles with fibroids. In 2015, she revealed that she had silently battled an extreme case for years before undergoing surgery.

She recalled being rushed to the emergency room due to unbearable pain, suffering from severe anaemia, and even being advised to remove her womb by a doctor in New York. She recounted:

“I was like, errrrmmm I haven’t had kids yetI got a nonchalant ‘sorry’ and a Kanye‑shrug. Thank God I found a doctor in Nigeria who thought that was rubbish.”

Kemi explained that the condition took a serious toll on her mental health, but she decided to share her story in hopes of encouraging other women facing similar struggles.

Her revelation comes shortly after singer Waje disclosed that she had surgery to remove 19 fibroids after years of suffering in silence.
