There?s no excuses now for the manager this season ?Wayne Rooney warns Amorim after club splashed 200 million on new signings

Former Manchester United striker, Wayne Rooney has sent a strong warning to manager Ruben Amorim, insisting that he must start delivering results immediately if the club is to avoid another disappointing season.

United, which splashed around £200 million on new signings during the summer transfer window, have secured just one point from their opening two Premier League games, sparking early concerns among fans and pundits.

For Rooney, the slow start is particularly alarming considering the Red Devils’ disastrous 2024/25 campaign, which saw them finish in a shocking 15th place, their lowest position in Premier League history.

“There’s no excuses now for the manager this season. He’s got to start getting results and getting them quickly,” Rooney told BBC podcast, The Wayne Rooney Show.

“Once you start getting into October or November, if results don’t change drastically that’s when the pressure come.

“They needed to hit the ground running this season and one point from six is a bit of a worry.”

The club’s heavy summer investment brought in high-profile reinforcements across key positions, signaling the board’s intent to turn things around under Amorim. However, pressure is mounting for immediate improvement, with Rooney emphasizing that patience may quickly run out if performances do not pick up.
