Nottingham Forest defender, Ola Aina will be sidelined for up to three months after sustaining a hamstring injury while playing for Nigeria against South Africa.
The former Chelsea player lasted just 12 minutes before being replaced by Bright Osayi-Samuel. According to reports, he is not expected to return until the end of the year.
Aina has been a key figure for Forest, playing every minute of their Premier League campaign so far. His absence has forced the club to exclude him from their Premier League squad submitted on Thursday.
The versatile full-back will also miss Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin Republic in October, as well as a friendly against Venezuela in November.
Aina now hopes to recover in time to feature at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in December.
