Nigerian comedian and skit maker, Sanku, has died following a fatal car accident along Ogbomoso Road in Oyo State. In a video shared by Aboki Oniroyin Podcast on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, Sanku’s mother gave an emotional account of his humble beginnings and addressed rumors surrounding his rise to fame.
“We suffered so much before God blessed that boy and lift him up. We sold water and now pepper before he became famous. Then he started comedy small small. All the world knows him now,” she said tearfully.
Recalling his early struggles, she added: “He used to hawk pepper for me before he started this comedy. Then after he graduated, he told me he wanted to face a comedy that should not allow him to hawk again. And I said no problem, God will bless him. Then he started this comedy small small until the world now knows him.”
The grieving mother also dismissed speculations that her late son engaged in rituals to achieve success. “I heard people saying that he did ritual. He never did ritual. There is nothing that you can give him that he will use. He will tell you his God has blessed him small small. Rather, he will wait for God’s time,” she explained. “I heard people saying a lot of things about him. He has never visited any herbalist or any spiritual father. He is a very good boy,” she concluded.
