Veteran Bollywood icon Dharmendra has passed away at the age of 89 after a brief illness.
The 89-year-old actor, who had been in and out of South Mumbai’s Breach Candy hospital for several days, d!ed on Monday, November 24, 2025.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the actor, saying his passing "marks the end of an era in Indian cinema".
Family members and colleagues from the film industry have been arriving at his residence and the crematorium to pay their last respects. Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol performed the last rites this afternoon
Dharmendra is known for his memorable performances in films such as ‘Ayee Milan Ki Bela’, ‘Phool Aur Patthar’, ‘Aaye Din Bahar Ke’, ‘Seeta Aur Geeta’, ‘Raja Jani’, ‘Jugnu’, ‘Yaadon Ki Baaraat’, ‘Dost’, ‘Sholay’, ‘Pratiggya’, ‘Charas’, ‘Dharam Veer’, among others.
In 2023, he was seen in ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’, directed by Karan Johar.
Dharmendra is survived by his wives Prakash Kaur and Hema Malini, and his six children - Sunny, Bobby, Vijeta, Ajeeta, Esha and Ahana.
