PDP crisis: PDP must not field presidential candidate in 2027 – Wike’s condition for peace

 Umar Sani, a former Senior Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to ex-Vice President Namadi Sambo of Nigeria, has said that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was given some serious conditions by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, before peace could return to the party.

Speaking on Arise News on Monday morning, Sani said that the former Rivers State governor stated that the party must not contest the 2027 presidential election, or he would fight to the finish.

The PDP chieftain said that when the party could no longer continue to fight to the finish, it decided to hold its national convention, during which Wike and ten others were expelled from the party.

“Wike gave the PDP a condition that we are not going to field a presidential candidate in 2027. He said that is the only condition that he will have; all that this is a fight to finish.

“That is what he said. So we cannot wait for a fight to finish. Yes, we cannot wait for a fight to finish. Yes, we have to end the fight.”

It could be easily predicted that Wike and his camp will put up a fight to finish, as they have called for an emergency National Executive Committee (NEC) and Board of Trustees (BoT) meeting to be held on Thursday.

the PDP on Saturday expelled Wike, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, and eight other members loyal to the former Rivers governor.

The expelled members of the party are now set to hold an emergency meeting at the party’s National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja.

Their expulsion was announced during the just-concluded National Elective Convention that took place in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

However, a notice issued on Monday by the factional National Secretary of the party, Samuel Anyanwu, called for an emergency meeting barely 48 hours after their expulsion
