Tinubu and Trump to meet over Christian Genocide — Presidential aide, Daniel Bwala

 Daniel Bwala, special adviser to President Bola Tinubu on policy communication, has confirmed that the Nigerian leader and US President Donald Trump will hold a meeting “in the coming days.” 

The central topic of discussion will be the claims of Christian genocide currently facing the West African nation. This announcement follows Trump’s recent remark asserting that the Nigerian government has neglected to address attacks on Christians, a highly contentious claim that has fueled widespread debate.

Bwala was quick to underscore the shared dedication of both Presidents to fighting insurgency and all forms of terrorism. The presidential aide highlighted President Trump’s consistent support for Nigeria, specifically noting his authorization of arms sales. He stated that President Tinubu has effectively utilized this opportunity in the counter-terrorism effort, which is now yielding significant positive results.

 

Addressing the division over whether terrorist groups in Nigeria target Christians exclusively or attack all faiths indiscriminately, Mr. Bwala stated that any such differences in perspective would be addressed and resolved when the two leaders meet. He added that the summit could take place at the State House in Abuja or the White House in Washington.

 

“Both President Bola Tinubu and President Donald Trump have shared interest in the fight against insurgency and all forms of terrorism against humanity,” he remarked.

 

“President Trump has assisted Nigeria a lot by authorizing the sale of arms to Nigeria and President Tinubu has adequately utilized the opportunity in the fight against terrorism for which we have massive results to show for it."

 

He concluded: “As for the differences as to whether terrorists in Nigeria target only Christians or in fact all faiths and no faiths, the differences if they exist would be discussed and resolved by the two leaders when they meet in the coming days, either in State House or White House.”
