FIFA has released the 2025 The Best Men’s and Women’s 11, recognising the most outstanding footballers in the world over the past season.
The announcement was made on Tuesday, December 16, during the awards ceremony in Doha, Qatar, where Paris Saint Germain emerged as the dominant force in the men’s selection.
Six players from PSG’s Champions League winning squad were named in the Men’s 11 after playing key roles in the club’s historic first UEFA Champions League title and its run to the final of the FIFA Club World Cup.
Goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, now at Manchester City, was selected alongside Achraf Hakimi, Willian Pacho, Nuno Mendes, Vitinha and Ousmane Dembélé.
Club World Cup adidas Golden Ball winner Cole Palmer also earned a place in the team, while 18 year old Spanish forward Lamine Yamal was included following a breakthrough season at the highest level.
The Best FIFA Men’s 11 for 2025 is made up of Gianluigi Donnarumma in goal, defenders Achraf Hakimi, Willian Pacho, Virgil van Dijk and Nuno Mendes, midfielders Cole Palmer, Vitinha, Pedri and Jude Bellingham, and forwards Ousmane Dembélé and Lamine Yamal.
FIFA stated that the men’s team was selected based on performances between 11 August 2024 and 2 August 2025.
Voting was carried out by a panel of football experts and registered fans on FIFA.com, with both groups contributing equally to the final outcome.
In the women’s category, players from Spain and England dominated the 2025 The Best Women’s 11, with seven Spanish players and four from England included in the final selection.
The honours followed a highly competitive year in women’s football at both club and international level, highlighted by Spain and England meeting in the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 final and Arsenal defeating Barcelona in the UEFA Women’s Champions League final.
The Best FIFA Women’s 11 for 2025 features Hannah Hampton as goalkeeper, defenders Lucy Bronze, Leah Williamson, Irene Paredes and Ona Batlle, midfielders Aitana Bonmatí, Patricia Guijarro and Claudia Pina, and forwards Alexia Putellas, Alessia Russo and Mariona Caldentey.
FIFA confirmed that the women’s team was determined using the same assessment period and voting process as the men’s selection, with players judged on their impact for both club and country throughout the season.
