Onuachu also received one match ban following the game, having accumulated three yellow cards in previous matches.

The striker was deployed to the defence after Trabzonspor were reduced to ten men in the 78th minute.

Right-back, Wagner Pina was shown a straight red card and as Spox reports, manager Fatih Tekke deployed Onuachu as a centre-back.

The Nigerian international played the final 20 minutes, including stoppage time as a centre-back.

Onuachu was impressive in his new role delivering eleven clearances, while conceding two fouls.

After the game, the manager explained why Onuachu, who is currently leading the goal chart in the Super Lig, with 11 goals, was moved into defence.

“We were down to 10 men. There was no fullback, there was no centre-back. We were forced to move Onuachu into defence,” Tekke said.

However, the caution he received in the 73rd minute meant that he has been banned for one match.

He will not be part of next weekend’s crucial clash against Beşiktaş.
