The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially unveiled the full schedule for the Round of 16 matches at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025, following the conclusion of the group stage.
According to the fixtures published on CAF’s website, the knockout phase will run from Saturday, January 3, to Tuesday, January 6, 2026, with two matches played each day. All games are scheduled for 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Nigerian time across various stadiums in Morocco.
Tournament hosts Morocco will headline Sunday’s action when they face Tanzania at the Stade Prince Moulay Abdellah in Rabat. The Atlas Lions topped Group A, while Tanzania progressed as one of the best third-placed teams from Group C.
Later the same day, South Africa will battle Cameroon in what promises to be a high-profile encounter. The match carries added intrigue as Bafana Bafana coach, Hugo Broos, comes up against Cameroon, the team he guided to AFCON glory in 2017.
The Round of 16 kicks off on Saturday with former champions Senegal taking on Sudan. Mali will then face Tunisia, with the West Africans still chasing their first continental title, while Tunisia hope to relive their lone AFCON success achieved in 2004.
On Monday, record seven-time champions Egypt will lock horns with Benin as the Pharaohs continue their quest for a first AFCON title since 2010.
Later that evening, Super Eagles of Nigeria, one of the most impressive sides in the group stage will face Mozambique in Fès, as the Super Eagles aim to go one step further than their runner-up finish at AFCON 2023.
Tuesday’s fixtures will see Algeria confront DR Congo in Rabat, before defending champions Côte d’Ivoire wrap up the Round of 16 with a tough clash against Burkina Faso in Marrakech.
CAF also confirmed that the quarter-final matches will be played on January 9 and 10, while the final is scheduled for January 18 at the Stade Prince Moulay Abdellah in Rabat.
