Brigadier General Musa Abubakar Sadiq, a 49-year-old senior officer of the Nigerian Army, as a key figure in one of the country’s most prominent military security probes — the alleged coup plot against President Bola Tinubu.
Sadiq is currently facing intense investigation amid claims that he was involved in a secret plan intended to undermine the Tinubu administration. Although inquiries are still ongoing, the allegations have caused significant concern within both military and political circles, largely due to his lengthy service history and the strategic roles he previously occupied.
Born on January 3, 1974, in Nasarawa State, Sadiq began his military journey at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), where he joined the 44th Regular Course as a cadet in August 1992. He completed his training in September 1997 and was commissioned into the Infantry Corps, a core component of the Nigerian Army’s ground forces.
Across nearly 30 years in service, Sadiq established himself as a disciplined officer with broad operational and administrative expertise. Prior to the current allegations, he served in several high-level command positions nationwide.
Among his most significant roles was his appointment as Garrison Commander of the 81 Division at Dodan Barracks in Lagos, where he oversaw security operations and protected key military facilities in Nigeria’s commercial hub. This position placed him at the center of strategic security management in a city critical to national stability.
He also held the post of Commander, 3 Brigade in Kano, one of the major operational commands in northern Nigeria. In that capacity, he was responsible for troop deployment, logistics, and civil-military relations in an area frequently impacted by security concerns.
