Singer Zayn Malik has reiterated that he does not believe he has ever truly been in love, including during his relationship with model Gigi Hadid.
Speaking on the Call Her Daddy hosted by Alex Cooper, Malik addressed a previous comment he made two years ago in which he said he did not think he had experienced real love.
When asked whether he still stood by that statement, the former One Direction member said he did. “Because my understanding of love is always developing. At that moment in time, I might have thought it was love, but as I got older, I realized maybe it wasn't. Maybe it was lust. Maybe it was this ... maybe it was that ... I don't feel like it was love,” he said.

Malik, however, clarified that he continues to care deeply for Hadid, with whom he shares a daughter, Khai, born in September 2020. “I will always love G, because she's the reason my child is on this Earth, and I have the utmost respect for her. I will always love her, but I don't know if I was ever in love with her,” he added.
Malik and Hadid announced their split in 2021 following a highly publicised dispute involving Hadid’s mother, Yolanda Hadid. At the time, allegations surfaced that Malik had struck Yolanda and pushed her into a dresser, claims that contributed to the breakdown of the relationship.
In recent years, the pair have appeared to maintain a more amicable co-parenting relationship while keeping details of their personal lives largely private.
