Chief Dele Momodu, Publisher of Ovation International and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has stated that Ambassador-designate Femi Fani-Kayode became frustrated because President Bola Tinubu delayed giving him an appointment.
Momodu said the tension started after he compared President Tinubu to the late military ruler, General Sani Abacha, Fani-Kayode reacted strongly, saying Momodu disrespected the president and insulted Nigerians’ intelligence.
Momodu said Fani-Kayode now fights anyone or anything in sight, he said Fani-Kayode would have turned against Tinubu if his appointment had been delayed further and described him as deeply frustrated and depressed.
Momodu said he had advised Fani-Kayode to be patient and prayerful and added that Fani-Kayode had already prepared a backup plan, he said Fani-Kayode asked some friends to help him reach out to Atiku if all else failed and described Fani-Kayode as being like a fish out of water without power.
Momodu said it was disappointing that even after Tinubu approved the appointment, Fani-Kayode continued to fight instead of calming down, he said Fani-Kayode needed urgent rehabilitation to regain reason.
Momodu said the clash shows how political ambitions and delayed appointments can fuel personal attacks, he said social media has made such disagreements more public, and both men often use platforms like X to express their views.
Momodu said their feud has attracted wide commentary from supporters and critics alike, he said the exchanges highlight the tension among political elites in Nigeria.
"Femi grew frustrated after President Bola Tinubu delayed to offer him an appointment and he was begging us to help him reach former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to pave way for him to switch sides. Femi without power is like fish out of water," he said.
