Bola Oyin Adejobi, husband of Nollywood actress Toyosi Adesanya, has opened up about the painful journey they endured before welcoming their first child through surrogacy after years of battling infertility.

eelive.ng earlier reported that actress Biola Adebayo, a close friend and colleague of Adesanya, announced the baby’s arrival on Instagram last weekend, revealing she had been named the child’s godmother.

Speaking on their journey, Adejobi disclosed that his wife underwent four surgeries in 2023, with the fourth nearly claiming her life. According to him, doctors informed them that they would never be able to have a child again, but they held on to their faith.

“Many people don’t know that my wife had four surgeries in 2023. She almost passed away during the fourth one. Doctors’ report is not God’s report. The doctors told us that we can never have a baby again. With the help of God and Biola Adebayo (Talk to B), we have a baby today. I thank God. I doff my cap for her,” Adejobi said.

Recall that in 2024, Adesanya publicly shared her infertility struggles, revealing she underwent a laparoscopy and two failed IVF attempts in 2009 and 2011.

She disclosed that she sold her valuables to finance the procedures, which cost between N900,000 and N1 million at the time.

The actress also revealed that she suffered three pregnancy losses due to various medical complications.

“I got married in 2007, and I was already pregnant during our wedding ceremony.

“Two months after we travelled back to Akure, where my husband stays, I saw blood in my dream and also when I woke up. I told my husband (now ex), and he said I might have lost the pregnancy due to stress.

“Meanwhile, I have not gone to any location; the one I had to go to was still in December 2007, and I already lost the pregnancy in September 2007.

“In 2008, Fathia Balogun encouraged me to try for pregnancy again and introduced me to a woman.

“I went to the woman, she gave me some herbal medications, and I got pregnant again. After a while, I lost the pregnancy.”
