Popular Fuji musician, Saheed Osupa, has stirred controversy after openly admitting that he engages in traditional spiritual practices, popularly referred to as “juju,” to enhance his success.
The singer, whose real name is Saheed Okunola, made the remark during a live performance at the 52nd birthday celebration of veteran Yoruba actor Fatai Odua (Lalude) on March 30, 2026.
In a video from the event that began trending on Wednesday, Osupa was seen addressing his backup singers, urging them to adopt spiritual means to improve their performance and memory after they struggled to keep up with his delivery on stage.
Speaking humorously but pointedly, the Fuji star revealed that he does not hide his beliefs, despite advice from some quarters to deny involvement in such practices.
“Someone once advised me to grant an interview denying I am a fetish person, but I refused. I didn’t harm anyone with it. I only seek progress,” he said.
Osupa added that he regularly pays homage to Ifa, describing it as part of his personal spiritual routine.
“If I don’t engage in it, what else should I use? Is it Panadol that will make me successful?” he joked.
The musician further claimed that many people secretly engage in similar practices.
“Everybody practises it. Some do theirs in secret, but I do mine openly,” he added.
Osupa has, over the years, occasionally referenced seeking spiritual support from traditional practitioners during performances, though his latest remarks appear to be his most direct and public acknowledgment of such beliefs.
