In a veiled dig at opposition presidential aspirants enjoying growing popularity on social media, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar yesterday said unseating President Bola Tinubu next year would require far more than online popularity.


Atiku, in a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu,  said that competence, structure and national appeal must guide the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in choosing a presidential candidate that can floor the incumbent President.

 He therefore urged ADC’s delegates to avoid what he described as political experimentation. 

Atiku argued that  Nigeria’s worsening economic crisis, insecurity, debt burden and institutional decline demand experienced leadership capable of governing effectively from the first day in office.

“This is not a season for political experimentation. Nigeria cannot afford a learning-on-the-job presidency,” he said.
