Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has reportedly named former Commissioner for Finance under the late former governor, Abiola Ajimobi, Bimbo Adekanmbi, as his preferred successor ahead of the 2027 governorship election in the state.
He also announced Dhikirulah Stanley Adedeji, Shina Abiola Peller and Ajadi Olufemi Oguntoyinbo as candidates in Oyo South, Oyo North and Oyo Central senatorial districts.
Oyo state Publicity Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Michael Ogunshina, confirmed the development in an exclusive phone call on Wednesday night.
It was gathered that Adekanmbi emerged as the successor following high-level consultations involving key stakeholders in the state.
Although Makinde has yet to make any formal public declaration, Ogunshina confirmed the development.
“Yes, it is confirmed, the governor has announced him,” Ogunshina said.
