Donald Trump has warned that renewed military action against Iran remains on the table if Tehran fails to reach a final nuclear agreement with the United States. In an interview with The New York Times, the US President said he would either order fresh strikes on the Iranian capital or assert American control over Middle East affairs in exchange for twenty percent of regional revenues.
He described the waterway at the heart of global energy trade as central to the deal and claimed the arrangement he negotiated would keep the Strait of Hormuz permanently free of tolls.
Trump also addressed relations with Israel during the conversation. He referred to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a difficult leader and suggested that Israel should be appreciative of American efforts. The President noted that Israeli officials were not part of the negotiations that led to the newly announced accord with Iran. That exclusion has already raised concern in Jerusalem, where the details of the agreement are being studied closely by security and diplomatic teams.
