Former Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, the running mate of NDC presidential candidate Peter Obi, has stated that he believes Obi will keep his promise to serve only one term if elected president in 2027
Speaking in an interview with Channels Television, Kwankwaso said he trusts Obi. He said they had both accepted and signed a written agreement that Obi would serve only one four-year term if they win the 2027 presidential election.
Kwankwaso stated that after serving as president from 2027 to 2031, Obi would work with him and other political leaders to ensure that power returns to northern Nigeria, in line with their agreement.
In Kwankwaso's words: "We have accepted to put it on paper. We have done one for the party, and we have done one between the two of us. The agreement is that after four years he will come and work together, team together as a group, party, friends and involve everybody to work together so that after our term of 4 years from 2027 to 2031, it comes back to the north"
