Kwara State All Progressives Congress (APC) Elders Caucus and the 15 governorship (G15) yesterday resolved not to vote for the governorship candidate, Yakubu Danladi Salihu and all other candidates all levels.
They discredited the emergence of Rt Hon Salihu and all the other candidates propped by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
They accused Governor AbdulRazaq of high-handedness, dictatorship and running a kindergarten government.
The aggrieved former aspirants and elders however, agreed to vote overwhelmingly for the return of President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
They assured that President Tinubu’s votes in Kwara State would outpace those of 2023
The governorship aspirants are current Senators representing the three districts; they are Mallam Salihu Mustapha (Kwara Central), Umar Sadiq (Kwara North) and Oyelola Ashiru (Kwara South). Others are former Senator Ibrahim Oloriegbe, Hon Bolarimwa Bashiru, Mallam Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki, Dr Oluwatoyin Alabi, Bio Umar, Tajudeen Audu and Mohammed Dele Belgore. The G15 said this in Ilorin, the state capital, while announcing a name change to The Otoge Progressives (TOP) at a town hall engagement with critical stakeholders.
The chairman of the APC elders caucus, Chief James Ayeni and the Kwara Central counterpart, Salman Jawondo (SAN), attended The meeting also reaffirmed the movement’s support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
A motion moved by the Senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial District, Senator Saliu Mustapha, reaffirmed the stakeholders’ Vote of Confidence in President Tinubu and endorsed his re-election for a second term in office in 2027. The motion received overwhelming support from participants.
Also, in a voice affirmation by the group and their supporters, loyalists, the governorship aspirants said, “President Tinubu will get maximum support. We solemnly support the return of President Tinubu in 2027. We will vote for his reelection. We affirm our resolve to support his return in 2027.

Spokesperson of the group, former Kwara Central Senator Dr Oloriegbe said that “we shall continue to reject the arrangement promoted by Governor AbdulRazaq through lawful, peaceful and democratic means. We shall remain open to all legitimate political groups necessary to defend the interest of our members and advance the aspirations of the people of the state.
“We call on the national leadership of APC to take the concerns of the party members in the state seriously. Through the unity, sacrifice and collective resolve of the people, the APC became the dominant political force in the state, with victory at every level in the 2027 elections firmly within reach.
“That prospect has now been gravely undermined by the unilateral decision Of one individual. Unless the present arrangement is reconsidered and the widespread dissatisfaction among party members genuinely addressed, the party’s unity and electoral success can no longer be assured.
Earlier, Chairman APC Elders Cacus James Ayeni told the crowd of teeming members and supporters that “we are here to discuss how to move our dear state forward.”
