Popular Nollywood actress and entertainer, Bisola Aiyeola, has revealed that she was born in England, while reflecting on her childhood and the privileged upbringing she experienced alongside her siblings and cousins.
The actress made the revelation while speaking during an interview with Chude on Saturday, August 8, 2026. Bisola opened up about her family background and explained that although she was born abroad, her family had strong ties to Lagos, particularly Lagos Island, where her mother operated two stores.
According to the actress, her family was financially comfortable during her childhood, a situation that made people around them regard her and her siblings as children who had enjoyed the benefits associated with being raised abroad. She recalled how they were often identified as “London children” because of where they were born.
In her words, “I was born in England, my mom had two stores in Lagos Island, we were living lavida loca, we were the children they called, the London children, even with our cousins, we were the supposed ajebo.”
Bisola’s recollection offers an insight into the circumstances surrounding her early years and the perception people had of her family at the time. The expression “ajebo,” commonly used in Nigerian slang to describe someone perceived to have grown up in comfort or privilege, reflected how others viewed her upbringing.
She further explained that the perception was not limited to her alone, as her cousins were also included in the description. According to her, they were collectively seen as children who had access to a comfortable lifestyle, particularly because of their connection to England and their family’s business activities in Lagos.
