Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has celebrated the re-election of his uncle and Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, sharing an emotional message shortly after the announcement of the 2026 governorship election result.
The singer took to X on Sunday to react to the outcome of the poll, posting a video of jubilant celebrations with the caption, “WE DID IT UNC.”
Davido’s reaction came shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officially declared Governor Adeleke, the Accord Party candidate, winner of the Osun governorship election.
The declaration was made on Sunday morning by the Returning Officer for the election and Vice Chancellor of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti, Professor Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole, following the conclusion of the collation of results from the state’s 30 local government areas.
Announcing the final figures, Ogunwole said Adeleke secured 511,067 votes to defeat the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes.
The INEC Chief Returning Officer subsequently declared Adeleke elected after meeting the constitutional requirements for victory.
“That, Ademola Adeleke of Accord Party, having satisfied the requirements of the law, is hereby declared winner and is returned elected, duly signed by me,” declared Professor Ogunwole.
