The family of late Afrofuji singer Destiny Boy has said they have been unable to access his bank account since his death because they cannot unlock his mobile phone.
Speaking about the challenges they have faced in a video on Thursday, the singer’s father and sister said all efforts to gain access to the device have failed, leaving the family unable to retrieve important information, including access to his finances.
According to them, they even took the phone to Computer Village in Lagos in the hope that technicians could unlock it, but the attempt was unsuccessful.
“If we were able to unlock Destiny’s phone, our lives would have been better by now. We took the phone to Computer Village, but they couldn’t unlock it,” they said.
The family added that even Destiny Boy’s wife could not help because the late singer had changed his phone password.
“Even Destiny’s wife doesn’t know the password. She used to know it, but when she started making withdrawals from his bank account, he changed it.
“As a result, we have also been unable to access the money in his bank account,” they claimed.
Destiny Boy, whose real name was Afeez Adesina, died on January 17, 2026, at the age of 22. He was buried the following day in Ayetoro, Ogun State, according to Islamic rites.
The singer rose to fame in 2019 after his Fuji version of Davido’s If went viral. He later released songs including ‘Lamba’, ‘One Transaction’, ‘Gbese’, ‘Billion Dollar’, ‘Mio Gbonkankan’ and ‘Lowkey’.
Following his death, members of his family said he had been battling a long term illness before he passed away, dismissing rumours surrounding the circumstances of his death.
