Why I Went To My Late Brother's Grave A Day Before The Gubernatorial Election - Governor Adeleke

Governor Ademola Adeleke has opened up about the emotional connection he continues to share with his late elder brother, Senator Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke, revealing that he visited his brother’s grave shortly before the just-concluded Osun State governorship election to seek his prayers and guidance.

Adeleke made the disclosure while speaking during an interview on Channels Television on Sunday, August 16, 2026. The governor, who described his late brother as someone with whom he shared several similarities, said he still deeply misses him and sometimes visits his grave whenever he wants to remember and connect with him.

According to Adeleke, his relationship with his late brother was particularly strong because they shared similar personalities and enjoyed life in much the same way. Reflecting on their bond, the governor said, “I and my late brother, Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke are alike, we behave the same way, he love life too you know.”

He admitted that the loss remains painful for him and that there are moments when his emotions become overwhelming. Adeleke explained that he sometimes cries whenever he visits his brother’s grave because of how much he misses him.

In his words, “I miss him a lot, sometimes I cry, I will go to his grave and say brother I miss you and I will cry.” The governor further revealed that visiting the grave has become something he does regularly, particularly during important moments in his life.

Adeleke disclosed that the most recent visit occurred before the governorship election, when he went to his late brother’s grave to seek his prayers ahead of the political contest. He said he spoke to his brother as though he were still present and asked him to pray for him as he prepared to face the election.

He recalled telling his late brother, “Brother, here I am again, I am going for an election, I want you to pray for me.” The governor’s account offered a deeply personal insight into the emotional and family ties that continue to influence him, even years after his brother’s passing.
