Halima Dangote, daughter of Nigerian business magnate Aliko Dangote, has opened up about growing up in the public eye and the family’s approach to wealth and social recognition.
Halima explained that despite coming from a wealthy family, she and her siblings were not raised to be arrogant or overly conscious of their status.
“We are not spoilt. Unlike when we meet our father’s friends’ kids, we stay quiet and don’t say who we are. Life was easier before people recognized us. Some are comfortable with social media, but we’re not. Our goal is to build our father’s company to $100 B.”
According to her, life was considerably easier before people became familiar with their identities. She noted that while some people are comfortable with the attention that comes with social media, she and her siblings prefer to maintain a level of privacy.
Halima also revealed that the family’s focus extends beyond enjoying their privileged background, as they have a major ambition for the future of their father’s business.
She said their goal is to grow the company to a $100 billion valuation, highlighting their desire to build on the legacy established by their father.
