Kanye West and Big Sean appear to have put their years-long feud behind them after performing together in Chicago on Thursday night.
West, also known as Ye, was performing at Soldier Field when he surprised the audience by bringing out his former G.O.O.D Music protégé. “Had to bring my homie from the D out,” Ye told the crowd before Big Sean emerged on a lift onto the globe-shaped stage.
The pair performed their 2012 collaboration “Clique” before Big Sean delivered his solo hit “I Don’t F*** With You.” They were later joined by 2 Chainz for a performance of “Mercy.” The reunion marks a significant change in the relationship between Ye and Big Sean following a public dispute that intensified in 2021.
During an appearance on the Drink Champs podcast that year, Ye criticised Big Sean and said one of his biggest regrets was signing the Detroit rapper to his record label. Ye went further by saying that when he died, his tombstone should read: “I deserve to be here because I signed Big Sean.”
The dispute was linked in part to Ye’s unsuccessful 2020 presidential campaign. He criticised Big Sean and John Legend for not supporting his candidacy and accused both artists of being sellouts. Big Sean subsequently responded to Ye’s remarks, describing them as “bitch ass s***.”
Sean also left Ye’s G.O.O.D Music label after spending about 14 years with the company. Their joint appearance at Soldier Field now suggests the two rappers have reconciled, with Thursday’s performance marking a public reunion following years of tension.
