Nigerian singer and pastor Bankole Wellington, popularly known as Banky W, has announced his return to music after several years away, revealing how a prayer for direction led to an unexpected collaboration with gospel singer Victor Thompson.
Banky W made the revelation in an Instagram post, where he disclosed that his forthcoming single, titled ‘SUPER POWER‘, featuring Victor Thompson, would be released on November 6, 2026.
The singer explained that he had initially accepted that his music career was over and had no plans to return to the recording studio.
However, he began experiencing a renewed desire to create music, with lyrics and melodies repeatedly coming to him despite his reluctance to start another musical journey.
How Victor Thompson became part of Banky W’s comeback
Banky W said he eventually prayed to God, asking for songs to sing if he still had unfinished business with music.
He wrote, “Lord, I feel like I have unfinished business with music. You gave me this gift, and I want to give it back to You. I don’t know how, and I don’t know where to start. But if You give me the songs to sing, I’ll sing them.”
According to him, three weeks after the prayer, Victor Thompson sent him a direct message expressing his desire to collaborate on a song.
Banky W recalled Victor saying, “Bro, I’m not sure if you’re up for it, but I feel very strongly that I’m supposed to do a song with you.”
Singer speaks about returning to music
Describing the collaboration as more than a musical project, Banky W said it was an act of obedience and a reminder that seemingly closed chapters could reopen.
He also admitted that he was unsure how to promote music in the current entertainment landscape but was willing to trust the process.
The forthcoming single marks a new chapter in the singer’s musical journey.
