“Bills are too much” – Single mother cries out, regrets leaving marriage after taking friends’ advice

A Nigerian single mother has expressed regret over leaving her marriage after taking advice from people she confided in about her marital problems, lamenting the financial struggles she now faces.

In a video shared on X (formerly Twitter), the woman criticised women who advise others to leave their marriages, accusing them of giving misleading advice while believing they are helping.

She urged married women to be careful about sharing their marital problems with others, claiming that the people she sought advice from contributed to the breakdown of her marriage.

“People that I shared my marital issues with are the ones that turned me into the single mother that I am today,” she lamented.

Recounting her experience, the woman revealed that her ex-husband worked as a commercial tricycle operator, popularly known as a keke driver, and woke up around 4 a.m. daily to provide for the family.

She explained that she also woke up early to hustle but often returned home exhausted. According to her, their marital problems escalated because she frequently rejected her husband’s sexual advances due to tiredness.

The woman disclosed that she eventually left the marriage after receiving advice from others, a decision she now regrets.

Reflecting on her current situation, she described the challenges of raising children alone and struggling to meet her financial responsibilities.

“To be a single mother is not easy. Please, I’m already tired. I don’t know what to do anymore. Bills are too much,” she cried out.

She further warned women against allowing others to influence their decisions about marriage, insisting that the people she turned to for guidance had misled her.

Her account has sparked conversations about marital advice, the challenges of single parenthood and the importance of carefully considering relationship decisions.
