“Nigerians Have Normalised Suffering, Turning Basic Needs Into Prayer Points”- Rev. Ifeanyi Ibeneme

Reverend Ifeanyi Ibeneme has spoken about the challenges Nigerians face, saying many citizens have become accustomed to living with conditions that should ordinarily be addressed through basic public services.

The cleric made the remark while reflecting on his experience abroad, where he enjoyed 24-hour electricity.

According to Ibeneme, travelling outside Nigeria can make people appreciate the extent of the difficulties Nigerians face at home, particularly when it comes to access to essential amenities.

He noted that Nigerians have become so used to certain hardships that they often turn basic needs that the government should provide into prayer points.

“If you have travelled out of Nigeria, you will actually understand that we Nigerians are suffering. We have normalised suffering to the extent that things the government should provide for us, we turn them into prayer points,” he said.

His comment highlights the contrast between his experience of uninterrupted electricity abroad and the challenges many Nigerians face with power supply.

The statement has also drawn attention to the broader conversation about access to essential services and the expectations citizens have of their government.
