Ex-‘Yahoo Boy’ Graduates with First-Class in Computer Science, Shares Experience
A young Nigerian man has shared his inspiring journey from dropping out of school and getting involved in internet fraud to graduating with First-Class Honors in Computer Science.
He revealed that six years ago, he left school and went into “yahoo,” but later returned with a renewed mindset, stronger drive, and a deeper sense of purpose. Last week, he graduated with a 4.67 CGPA.
Beyond academics, he developed valuable skills in UI/UX design, software development, and problem-solving. Reflecting on his journey, he emphasized perseverance, faith in God, and personal growth as the keys to his transformation.
Sharing lessons he learned, he advised others to:
- See school as a skill to master, not a burden.
- Build real-world skills early.
- Surround themselves with people who inspire growth.
- Manage time intentionally.
- Stay hungry and consistent.
Encouraging those who feel delayed, he stressed that “delay is not denial,” urging them to remain consistent and faithful.
