Chelsea hero Estevao said his wonderful solo goal against Barcelona in the Champions League was the “best moment” of his fledgling career so far.
The 18-year-old stole the headlines during a famous night for Chelsea after his brilliant goal helped the Blues on their way to a hugely impressive 3-0 win – their biggest ever victory over the Catalan giants.
On a night which was billed pre-game as a battle between Estevao and fellow teenage wonderkid Lamine Yamal, it was the Blues youngster who shadowed his counterpart with a special moment.
Speaking to Amazon Prime, the Brazilian said: “I don’t really have any words to sum up how I’m feeling right now. It really was the perfect night.
“I’m just grateful to God for everything that has happened for me. Onwards and upwards from here.”
‘Best moment of my career’
After picking up the ball in his favoured right-hand channel, the youngster jinked past two challenges before firing an unstoppable shot into the roof of the net to put the Blues 2-0 up on the night.
Describing his goal, which was the third consecutive game he has found the net in the Champions League, he added: “It all happened very quickly for me, it sort of happened before I knew it.
“I just found some space, wiggled my way through and then scored that goal. It was such a special moment for me in my career. I hope to score many more.
“It was definitely the best moment of my career so far. I want to score many more for many years. I’m so grateful that my family were here watching me.”
Estevao has taken like a duck to water at Chelsea since his £55million move from Palmeiras and said the connection he has already created with the Blues fans is a big reason for his success so far.
“From the moment I arrived here, I felt such a connection with the fans,” he added. “I’m just so happy that I could score for them and make them happy. I hope to keep making them happy and score more goals for them.”
