Real Madrid's young talent, Franco Mastantuono, has reportedly requested a loan move in the upcoming January transfer window, according to a prominent Spanish report.
The 18-year-old joined Real Madrid from River Plate in August for €45 million and quickly became a regular in Xabi Alonso’s starting eleven. However, after missing four matches due to injury in late November, Mastantuono has struggled to regain his place in the team.
Since his return to full fitness, he has been mostly an unused substitute, featuring only briefly in recent matches, including a late appearance in Sunday's 2-1 La Liga win over Alaves.
Despite his limited playing time, Mastantuono remains committed to Real Madrid’s long-term plans. Nevertheless, he is eager to seek more regular game time and has formally asked the club for a temporary loan in January, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes.
His goal is to enhance his chances of being selected for Argentina’s 2026 World Cup squad by coach Lionel Scaloni.
Several La Liga clubs have already shown interest in taking Mastantuono on loan, though Madrid has yet to make a final decision. The club’s options are complicated by the potential loan of Endrick to Olympique Lyonnais, which would reduce attacking options for Alonso.
Additionally, with Rodrygo linked to a possible departure, Madrid may be hesitant to allow Mastantuono to leave if it means further thinning their squad, especially if key players like Rodrygo exit the club.
