Joshua Kimmich names Bayern Munich’s biggest rival to win the Champions League after Real Madrid win

According to Metro Sport, Joshua Kimmich has labelled Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain as the top teams left in the Champions League after Bayern’s dramatic win over Real Madrid.

Bayern advanced to the semi-finals following a chaotic 4-3 victory at the Allianz Arena, overcoming the Spanish giants over two legs.

Despite taking a lead into the match, the German side were stretched throughout as Real Madrid repeatedly threatened through fast counterattacks.

Arda Güler punished an early mistake from Manuel Neuer to open the scoring and later produced a brilliant free-kick to score again.

Kylian Mbappé also found the net as Madrid continued to push for another famous European comeback.

However, Bayern fought back through Aleksandar Pavlović and Harry Kane to remain in the contest, before late strikes from Luis Díaz and Michael Olise completed a dramatic turnaround, aided by Madrid being reduced to ten players.

Following the match, Kimmich acknowledged that Bayern did not perform at their peak but praised their determination and resilience.

He pointed out that both teams showed their qualities, with Bayern pressing aggressively and Madrid dangerous on the break, though he felt Bayern improved control in the second half.

Looking ahead, Bayern will meet PSG, coached by Luis Enrique, in what Kimmich described as a clash between the “best teams in Europe.”

PSG earned their place in the semi-finals after a convincing win over Liverpool, setting up a highly anticipated showdown.

In the other semi-final, Arsenal will face Atlético Madrid, managed by Diego Simeone, after both sides progressed from their quarter-final matches.

Bayern coach Vincent Kompany praised his team’s mentality, highlighting their composure and belief even when they were trailing.

With only four teams remaining, the Champions League semi-finals are set for two intense and evenly matched battles.
