Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has opened up about how marriage, fatherhood and more than a decade in the music industry have transformed his personal priorities, professional approach and the way he manages his inner circle.
The Grammy-nominated singer shared the insights during a recent interview on The Vibe Q, shortly after the release of his sixth studio album, ORIADÉ, where he reflected on his growth as an entertainer, entrepreneur and family man.
Davido explained that the experiences he has gained over the years have significantly changed his outlook on relationships, responsibility and the importance of surrounding himself with people who contribute positively to his goals.
According to a report by Daily Post on Saturday, August 1, 2026, the singer said he has become more intentional about the people around him, noting that those within his personal and professional circle are now expected to bring value and purpose.
He explained that his approach to managing his team has evolved, with members encouraged to develop useful skills that can support his brand and business operations.
Davido said friendship and loyalty remain important to him, but he now believes that people close to him should also have abilities and qualities that contribute meaningfully rather than simply being present around him.
The singer identified marriage and family life as some of the biggest influences on the changes he has experienced in recent years.
He revealed that marrying Chioma Adeleke and embracing fatherhood marked a major turning point, affecting the way he views privacy, responsibility and the environment he creates for himself and his family.
Davido explained that living with his wife and children has made him more careful about the atmosphere around his home, adding that his lifestyle is no longer the same as it was earlier in his career.
The award-winning artiste also reflected on how his creative process has changed, particularly when it comes to recording music.
He recalled that in previous years, studio sessions often involved large groups of friends, associates and entertainers, creating a lively and party-like atmosphere.
However, he explained that his current responsibilities have led him to adopt a more focused and structured approach to making music.
Davido said his family commitments mean he can no longer maintain the same level of constant activity and large gatherings that characterised earlier periods of his career.
“Now I live with the kids and my wife. I can’t have a hundred people in my house like before. Normally, recording in the studio is like a party vibe, but with this record, because of my situation, I can’t have a hundred people at the crib,” he said.
The singer’s comments highlight the personal adjustments that have accompanied his transition from a young music star into a global entertainer with family responsibilities and major business interests.
