A Nigerian lady has shared a troubling account of how her SS2 niece allegedly left her boarding school to meet a university student shortly after her parents dropped her off.
The woman narrated the incident in a Facebook post after reportedly receiving the story from a person who reached out to her, explaining that the teenager was taken to school on a Sunday morning by her parents.
According to her, she later spotted someone who looked like her niece on a busy road that same evening, holding hands with a young man.
‘I Was So Worried’
The woman said she could not get another look at the pair before the Keke she was travelling in dropped her off.
She immediately called the girl’s mother to find out whether she was at home, only to learn that she had been taken to boarding school that morning.
“I was so worried, I called her mom to know if she’s at home that was when her mom told me she was dropped in school that morning. She’s in SS 2,” she wrote.
She explained that she decided to visit the school her self before telling her sister what she had seen because she wanted to be certain before raising an alarm.
The woman arrived at the school at about 9pm and told the security guard that she wanted to collect a key from her niece.
‘She Couldn’t Find Her’
The security guard reportedly contacted the student’s house mistress, who recognized the woman as someone who regularly visited the teenager.
She said the house mistress asked the student to come out and give her the key, but the girl could not be found.
The woman said they searched for the student before another house mistress revealed that she had seen her leaving through the school gate earlier that afternoon.
“She said she saw her leaving the school gate in the afternoon and she said her dad told her to follow them so she could pick something from the supermarket, that she will be back immediately,” the woman wrote.
She added that the student had been signed out by the morning security officer.
The girl’s parents were subsequently contacted, but her father denied asking his daughter to leave the school.
He reportedly told the school that everything the girl would need until their next visit had already been bought for her.
‘My Sister Cried Without Sleeping’
The woman said the revelation left the teenager’s mother devastated, adding that her sister spent the night crying.
“My sister cried without sleeping throughout the night and she doesn’t have a phone,” she stated.
The girl was reportedly back at school by Monday morning.
However, her mother later contacted the police and asked her daughter where the young man she had allegedly spent the night with lived.
‘If They Arrest Him, They Should Arrest Me Too’
The woman identified the young man as a second year university student.
She claimed that the teenager cried and begged the police not to arrest him while they were on their way to his residence.
“My niece said if they arrest the guy they should arrest her also. My sister said so be it,” she wrote.
The young man was eventually arrested and taken into police custody.
The woman claimed the teenager became extremely distressed after his arrest and almost rolled into the path of a moving vehicle.
She further said the student had refused to participate in school activities and had not eaten since Monday.
Her mother was reportedly planning to take her back home.
‘Baby, I Will Never Leave You’
The woman also recounted the interaction between the teenager and the university student during the incident.
She said: “Upon everything that was happening the guy was busy telling her baby calm down, baby I will never leave you. And she was also calling him babe.
“What has this world turned to? Should her mom remove her from boarding school or will she make changes?,” she asked.
